MLS Season 2009 TFC is back!

TFC's 2nd season is upon us and all 4 of us were there yesterday to see us beat Real Salt Lake ( no giggles) 1-0 on a cracking 20 yard free kick from Laurent Robert.
Here are a few photos.

Is it spring yet?

More photos on my Facebook site, but here is what our road looks like! The boys dug out a fort then used the patio umbrella as a roof.

CITY CITY TOP O'TH LEAGUE!

Bit lucky against yoonietid, but we'll take the points.
I especially enjoyed Taggart thinking they had equalised in injury time.

Summer update

Hi
Apologies for lack of updates over the summer. It's the usual excuse- too many kids' footy matches, Toronto FC matches, nights of drinking and days of recovering
So what have we done? Main thing was a superb 9 day camping trip to the Pinery with 4 other families. The weather was iffy at times, Sean had to go to hospital with 6 stithes to a gashed hand- photos available to those who want- but aside from that it was fabulously relaxing. To such an extent we would have gladly stayed another week.

Otherwise, we've been spending lots of time yelling for TFC at BMO Field, and working to increase Carlsberg's profits while there. Work has been shit, making me wonder if I did the right thing, but I have to stick with it, as I think it will improve later in the year.
Here are a couple of pics from the summer so far.

Frank n' Sven

In the many lean years since joining the masochistic ranks of Manchester City supporters, I have seen a few false dawns- the "Forward with Franny" turning into Backwards with ball comes to mind immediately, as does the last big push by Swales to overhaul yoonietid by bringing Malcolm Allison back in 1979-which almost bankrupted the club....as it turned out we'd need to wait for mad Kev for that to re-occur.
So you will forgive me for not being overly excited about "Frank" Shinawatra and Sven taking over the reins of Manchester's club.
This article in the Torygraph may as well have been written by me- what has happened to the game and club I love?

Facebook

For any of you on Facebook, look up Colleen or me and send us a message.
Of course the whole thing could be a massive CIA conspiracy, but so far we're having fun with it, and there have been no knocks on the door at 3am as yet!

Toronto FC.

This is the dog's bollocks! Superb.
When we bought season tickets for TFC's inaugural season (WAY before Beckham decided he'd play for LA), I had NO friggin clue how authentic a football crowd this would be.
Our seats -right behind the goal- in the crazy and completely sold out to Season Tickets- are yet to be used apart from the occasional sit down at half time. Everyone stands throughout the match, the beer flows, the language is industrial, and the folks around us in section 115 are class.

I wake up on home game days at 5 0r 6 am like a kid at Xmas...it's like the Kippax at City in the 80s -except perhaps more fun as we have lots of friends with season tickets, who also like multiple beers and starting the songs.

Take a look at the video link above of fellow Red Patch Boys on here singing "The Massive" - a song sung in French.
Check out the video on youtube of the 1st ever club goal vs Chicago...the seat cushion free giveaway backfired bigstyle!

We're still alive

Despite lack of posting on here...
I tell you...once the weather warms up round these parts, life gets even busier.
Both the kids are active playing soccer and I am coaching them both. Sean has practice on Sunday, games on Monday, then same thing Tuesday and Wednesday for Andrew.
When we're not playing/coaching it's been socialising with our FNC crew- especially since Marcia Andre and the kids moved in 3 doors away! Honestly it's great having great friends so close- the kids get along very well, and we enjoy time drinking beers and watching footy with our Brazilian friends...
